Rob Westwood

I’m a freelance and contract problem solver for libraries. I can:

  • catalogue library materials,

  • build websites,

  • help to develop new systems and practices,

  • maintain legacy systems,

  • advise on marketing or communication strategy,

  • write copy,

  • or help you to manage a project.

I’m a person with high-level vision and deep practical knowledge who can get things done.

I achieved my Masters Degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Strathclyde in 2006 and chartered with CILIP in 2008.

I’m based in Glasgow but can solve problems further afield. My contracts and employers have included the University of Glasgow, University of Stirling, NHS Scotland, NHS England, Keele University, Cranfield University, Montreal Jewish General Hospital, Glasgow Botanic Gardens, and the Scottish Library and Information Council.

Recent Work

Why not visit the catalogue of beautiful scientific books I made for Glasgow Botanic Gardens? For this I used TinyCat and we featured as their Library of the Month for January 2020.

In 2022, I cataloged a digital repository for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde:

“Many thanks for your help on this project. It will make a huge difference to how we as a department operate, but also the organisation as a whole.”
